Boeing has revealed it is expecting to confirm a new 777X and 787 order by the end of June 2020.
Boeing’s 777X has received around 300 orders from 9 customers since its launch in November 2013. A new order during these unprecedented times would enhance the 777X program.
Boeing declares it has sold the 747-8Fs to “Customer A”, which is expected to UPS.
Also noted in the declaration was a “Customer B”, which purchased two 777Fs that were supposed to be delivered to Volga-Dnepr.
Not only did Customer B purchase some 777Fs, Boeing states this customer also plans to confirm a new purchase for 777-9s and additional 787s before the end of June 2020.
Which airline ordered these 777Xs and 787s? We can speculate thanks to the details of the declaration. This 777X customer likely already has 777Fs and 787s.
Currently, EVA Air is expected to be this 777X customer. If EVA Air orders the 777-9, they will be a new 777X customer.
EVA Air already has five 777Fs and nine 787 Dreamliners with more on order. The airline also has 34 Boeing 777-300ERs that may need replacing in a few years.
Other customers for this 777X and 787 order are rumored to be All Nippon Airways, who already has the 777X on order, or a major Chinese airline.
